Does anyone know anything about how to repair polished concrete worktops?

Just moved to a new house with concrete worktops which are chipped here and there and quite badly stained in places. I think they are supposed to have some kind of finish on them (from digging around on the web) but I'm not sure what. And if I can fill in the chipped bits myself. Basically what I want to know is if there is a way to return them to their (presumed) former glory which isn't going to cost me £££.

TIA

To do it yourself you'll need an epoxy (really strong 2 part glue stuff) to fill in the chips. For the varnish you'll need a food safe sealer (from a tile shop). Finish it off with something like bees wax.

If you want to hand it over to someone who'll be confident in what they're doing then a monumental stone mason should be able to revive it.

That's really helpful, thanks so much jean. I will have a go because I'm completely broke after having had to replace the boiler unexpectedly. If I make a mess of it, then I can splash out on the mason once things are a bit easier.
