My bath isn't draining!

Had a shower a little while ago (it's an over bath one) and it was filling up with water as I was showering. However it's STILL all there. Looks like someone had a bath and left the plug in.

Don't have a proper plunger (but I made a makeshift one) and it made sod all difference.

Would really rather not call my LL if it's something I can sort myself (plus I have a best friend whose DH could do it for free and the LL was quite happy for him to put extra plumbing in the kitchen for the dishwasher so I'm sure he wouldn't mind him sorting the bath if needed as well) .......need to go out now but any tips would be appreciated

Try some drain unblock (one shot - this usually does the trick for us)
You can buy it from most shops etc
If that doesnt work then maybe a plumber, but it might just be an excess of hair/soap etc build up

Yes, it's probably just blocked up with grot! Definitely try One Shot or whatever first. Robert Dyas (or any hardware store, probably) will have a range of products. Just don't spill any on anything. And if you do, don't wipe it off with your hand, like I did recently ...!

could it not be a frozen pipe somewhere stopping the draining?

BaroqinAroundTheChristmasTree · 07/12/2010 12:05

Thanks everyone - have come home and the bath is still full >

I don't think it's a frozen pipe - as the sink in the bathroom is still running fine.

Will go and get some drain unblock this afternoon.

oh - maybe something was frozen.

I've just been back up there and having stood there for 3hrs full of water not draining at all. at some point in the last hour it's totally drained. And when I ran some water in the bath (plug in) and then took the plug out it drained perfectly well Xmas Confused
