single or double under counter ovens?!

We are looking at ovens and want something under counter and built in.

Should we go for a single oven or a double which, to me, just seems to have 2 pretty small ovens?!!

We are (almost) a family of 4 (dc2 due in 6 weeks)

Any advice greatly recieved!

I went for a double which comes in very handy when I do 2 things at different temperatures. One is a fan oven, great for most things but not so good for cakes & slow-cooking stews etc. The top oven is a conventional oven which does those things better. Its also a grill.

If you are unsure about space though check out the Hotpoint Openspace - large single oven which can be separated into separate cooking zones.

Double every time - it's the separate grill that makes all the difference to me. (Do think double ovens look a bit odd under the counter though, if you can have it built in at eye level.)

double under the counter ovens (electric) have one fan one and the other isnt. I find one good for the main cooking but the other one is not fast enough for cooking. I use it for grilling mainly. You need it for the grill because if you are cooking in the oven you might want to cook a cheese topping on something at the same time.

i find the main oven (fan one) better for cakes. I must try the top one again ethelina.
wish i had bought a tall double oven with a fan in both.
Mine is a Neff and i cant complain. it is adequate and reliable, just wish i had a bigger kitchen

Double, a single means you cannot grill at the same time as using the oven so even simple meals are really difficult!

I wanted a tall double oven but space didn't allow for it so we went for built under. I find the fan oven cooks cakes too quickly so my timings and temps go out of the window.

Actually I wanted 2 side by side but far too expensive.

ive had to reduce temps and times too. its beena pain. i knock about 10 degrees off the recipe temp and then just go by touch or prod with a skewer.

Miss my double u-c one (moved in the summer). The single we have at the moment (will re-do kitchen eventually) doesn't look any bigger than the big one of the two ovens on the double to me. Lighting's bad and it's a bugger to clean too. Am thinking Christmas Dinner will be interesting!

I have a lovely Bosch double under the counter oven. I think that the bottom oven - might be fan (?) is fantastic for cooking cakes. I would always go for a double for the flexibility. My bottom oven does not seem any smaller than my old cooker oven and in fact it is wider.
