Hoping to exchange on Wednesday - when do solicitors need deposit

We've just been told we should be ready to exhange by Wednesday and that we need to get the deposit to our solicitors by Monday. Surely if we're exchangeing Wednesday then we would need to get it to them by Tues or Wednesday. I think Monday is going to be a push given we've just found out.

My solicitors said this too, they just wanted to have the funds in place in plenty of time to transfer across to the other side. As long as they get the money on Weds am you should be fine.
Congratulations btw! Smile Hope the move goes smoothly.

Depends how you pay it. They need to have cleared funds by the latest at close of business Tuesday. So an online transfer, if immediate, would do, otherwise you may need to get a bank draft.

It's just a little complicated as husband has money coming from a European account. I told him WEEKS ago that he needed to transfer it over and now we're down to the wire.

They need to have funds by end of the day Tuesday. Check with your bank about whether doing it online it will arrive in time otherwise bankers draft.

You can transfer money immediately using a Faster Payment bank transfer and it doesn't cost anything. You do it from your on-line banking. Not all banks use it so it is worth checking and there is a limit on the amount you can transfer but you could do the full amount as several transfers. Otherwise your bank can do a CHAPS transfer, which is immediate but will cost about £20.

Sorry I was assuming you would be doing a telegraphic transfer - depends how much money it is. I rang my bank and this was the best option, had to pay £20 for it.

They would not let me transfer on line etc as the sum was too large.
