Split level kitchen/family area?

Hi
We moved into a new place and it needs major work. The garden is a real feature of the property and as it slopes away from the house our architect has come up with a design for the extended kitchen/family area to be split level. The plans show a kitchen area and then 3 steps down towards the family area. I'm just not sure about it - it could be fab since both spaces would be very large and open but I have a problem visualising it.Anyone else have something similar?

Yes - We have a step up from the kitchen to the family room. Only one step - but it's lovely and a real feature of the house.

Our garden slopes away from the house and we have a split level garden. So essentially, you go up a step to the family room, down two steps to the patio and down two steps to the bottom of the garden.

Tis lovely!

I knew someone with a split level kitchen/dining room in a victorian house. It was lovely.
