Does anyone have any experience of raising a roof?

We're converting our loft and the architect has come up with a few options. One of these includes raising the roof by about 2 feet which would give us a LOT more headspace and an extra bedroom as a result. Just wondering if anyone has done this and can give us an idea of cost. Once we have the plans we can get quotes from builders etc but I just want a general ballpark at the moment so I can weigh it up against the cheaper but smaller option! :) TIA

You probably have solved this by now, but will add my bit anyway. Adding 2 feet is going to be expensive as you will have to strip and reroof the building. No idea of costs butnot cheap.. Have you got a figure yet?
