can you dismantle Ikea furniture?

We've got a big wardrobe from Ikea which I'd like to sell, but buyers are a bit put off because it's so big. Does anyone have any experience of this? I thought it wasn't possible because of those corner turn thingies, but have since been told it is.

Dying to know...

We've dismantled plenty of Ikea furniture and reassembled. As long as you didn't ruin the screw fittings when putting together it should be fine.

Not sure what you mean by the 'corner turn thingies'? With our IKEA wardrobe the only part that will be difficult to dismantle is the back which was nailed on- but I firmly intend to try and prise the nails out whenever we move, I'm sure if we can do that the rest will come apart with no problem.

FWIW we have bought a dismantled IKEA wardrobe. The seller still had the instruction leaflet & we were able to put it back together pretty well although the doors are wonky (but so is our floor!)

Ours is free-standing & not as huge as some.

(The corner turn thingies are no problem as long as you didn't glue them in!)

I think mamateur means the hexagonal screw heads and those little s-shaped things they give you to tighten them (the name of them escapes me)

Oh no, reading ponders post, now I know what she means!!

thanks guys! A lady has just offered to come round and take it, says her husband is an ikea furniture whizz.

I might have him off her Grin!
