Toybox hinges

Can anyone recommend hinges or something to prevent a heavy toy box lid from slamming down shut onto little fingers? I've tried googling safety hinges etc but haven't quite come across the right thing as yet.

Thanks

I'm using one of these: www.toolstation.com/shop/Hardware/Catches/Sliding+Flap+Stay+200+mm/d170/sd2310/p63380

Oooh, thanks, that looks good. Is there anyway of finding out what weight lid it would support? The toybox lid is quite heavy. How exactly does it work?

Thanks

Something like this would probably be even better though (if more expensive): www.sdslondon.co.uk/stays-for-cupboards-desks-boxes/soft-close-topopening-box-stay-right-hand.html

Better and better, thanks ever so much! Am falling asleep as I type so am off to bed, but thanks again.

The toolstation one is quite lightweight. It works by the metal bit being a tight fit inside the plastic sleeve, so just friction.

Thanks for this info. I went onto the SDS website and phoned them. Only lightweight hinge needed (up to 40kg) so just perfect - and good price!
