re-paint or change the wallpaper or re-decorate a room?

I need MN on my side so I can emotionally blackmail my DH, that it's time to get the paint brushes out.

We've been in this house near enough 5 years and our bedroom hasn't been touched. I don't think IBU, do you?

Sorry, I don't go in for emotional blackmail. If you want him to decorate the room you need to talk to him and persuade him that you'd like it to be done and that it would make you happy.

Just tell him you're going to do it because you don't like it! That's what I do when I want to decorate, just set a date, warn him and then get on with it

Just decorated DD2 bedroom. Last decorated as a nursery for DD1 who is almost 10

Why don't you do it yourself. I usually find if i get all the gear ready and start to paint my DH reacts in horror and will, albeit reluctantly, finish the job. I always make sure I do a really bad job so he has to take over

If it's your bedroom that needs doing, tell him that a new decor would really make the room a much nicer place to be in, and that the two of your would be able to spend...ahem..quality time there!! Watch him grab the brushes!

I have applied the other strategies before when the bathroom needed doing in the old house! Its was aqua and at the time, tile paint was all the rage. After asking and asking for him to do it, he went away for a week with work, and I took it upon myself to do it myself! Trouble is, he's a perfectionist and I just like to get things done!
