Tell me what paint/wallpaper to use

Please help, am hopeless. Our living room is titchy, already has cream carpet, cream full length curtains, and brown leather sofa (i know, i know, but can't replace as broke).

I can't afford anything like farrow & ball, or to replace sofas or curtains. So, how do i decorate? Its south facing, big window, so quite light. Don't really fancy feature wall, and its too small to take anything too bright/patterny. Help!

rather than decorating could you not just accesssorize? add a border round your curtains in a different colour, add a throw and/or some cushions and a rug, some large pictures on one wall - cld even get some large picture frames and put some patterned wallpaper in (get samples from shops for free)

#50 will buy you large tin of paint (even Farrow & Ball) in more interesting shade than cream.

#100 will buy you paint plus 3-5 cushions.

#150-175 will buy you paint, cushions and a rug.

Any or all of these will make a huge difference but I would prioritise walls first. If you have any money left over, I would definitely, as durham says, get some art on the walls.
