Paint first and then fit new carpets?

Or is that a silly question?

I'm just wondering if we get our hall painted first and then have new carpets laid, will the freshly painted skirting boards get bashed and chipped by carpet laying exercise?

Which is best to do first?

i would paint first, then tell the fitters to be careful!

Definitely paint first! If you get the odd chip you can touch it up, but trying to gloss paint skirtings without getting it on the carpet is a major nightmare.

yes paint first

SoMuchToBats · 28/10/2010 23:50

Agree. PAINT FIRST! Grin

MrsShriekTheScared · 28/10/2010 23:51

fitters know that they are usually after the painters, and any worth their salt are very careful and expect to find newly painted skirting boards.

SoMuchToBats · 28/10/2010 23:57

Oooh, SEA I will have to go and find the thread! Have been travelling back from Kent today with ds (and Norman and his mates) so haven't got onto MN until tonight! Thanks for the tip-off....

Take up old carpets, paint then lay new carpets.

SoMuchToBats · 29/10/2010 00:05

Agree with spiders re painting order.

SEA, have replied on other thread re Coastguard boat!

Thank you all.

Gives me a bit more time to choose carpet.
