Fitted mirrored wardrobes? Opinions please!

We are building an extension just now and I'm planning what we need in our new bedroom. We will need a wardrobe of some sort and have a 2m space for this. I had my heart set on a Pax wardrobe from Ikea but then we had problems with our foundations work which basicaly wiped most of our budget for the internal works for the house. So I am trying to save money wherever we can.

I asked the builder today how much it would be for them to just fit a wardrobe ie, a side wall, some shelving, hanging rail and basic mirrored doors. He said he would do it for nothing as our architect had actually written this in the original plans. So I am thinking of just going with the mirrored wardrobe. But I have a niggle that it's not really what I want and might look a bit naff? But then it's free and wouldn't involve us having to buy elsewhere / construct our own wardrobes.

So what's the concensus on mirrored wardrobes these days?

it's the mirrors that I don't like
could you juts have normal wooden doors ?

Probably could buy wooden doors but I'm actually thinking that mirrored doors would be OK given that they will make the room look bigger? They won't be directly facing our bed either which is good, that would be too weird waking up to my ugly mug every morning LOL

Buy some pax on ebay - they come up all the time, just buy the carcasses and get doors later when you have money if you're really strapped. (They are great.)

Don't like mirrored doors in bedroom [prude]

I'm not keen on mirrored wardrobes either

How tall are you? They are a real pain to clean/polish if you're short.
