Completion day checklist - anything I've missed?

We should [knocks wood repeatedly] be completing on selling our house tomorrow.

We've already moved to our new home so the old house is empty and clean. I was going to do the following tomorrow and just wanted to check if there was anything I've missed:

  • take final electricity, gas and water readings
  • leave all spare keys in kitchen with note to say what they're for
  • leave list of neighbour's names and house numbers so that it doesn't take them three years to remember them all [brain like sieve emoticon]
  • leave welcome card and bottle of wine

Anything else that you'd do/like?

If you are feeling kind then, note on which days the bin men come.

Leave instructions for the boiler etc?!

Otherwise you sound very helpful!

toilet paper in the loos!

Tell them where the stopcock is.

Leave invoices/receipts for anything to do with the house (if they haven't already got them).

Local takeaway menus!! (for that first evening....)

Thank you very much for all of your replies. I left them:

  • keys and a list of what was what
  • bin collection info
  • key to open all the metre boxes outside
  • list of the utility readings I've rung in
  • toilet paper and handwash
  • list of neighbours
  • info on paint colours and where the kitchen and bathroom came from
  • electoral roll info
  • bottle of wine and lemonade
  • plastic cups to drink out of
  • a welcome to your new home card

Couldn't find the boiler instructions! I would have left takeaway menus but they're local so know the score.

We got diddly squat when we moved into our new house which I found really unhelpful. Was really sad shutting the door for the last time Sad
