Price for laying floor tiles

£40 per square metre.

Is that a lot? It certainly comes to a scary total. It includes labour and materials (adhesive, grout etc) and excludes the cost of the tiles.

This is not a straight forward question - the price depends on a number of things - the type (thickness) of tile, the size and shape of the room (a passsage way with lots of cuts will cost more than a square room, for instance - curved areas will cost more, Where abouts you live etc. etc..

The best thing is to get quotes from several tradesmen and ideally find one who will do it for cash as a foreigner.

Or do it yourself.

I would expect to pay £30 per square metre if it were a reasonable sized area with no tricky bits

Yes. Big area, over 40m2 with no tricky bits. We live in an area where everything house related is think of a price and double it though.

We are having the kitchen fitted by the builder who built the extension, and I thought that we would get him to lay the tiles. Might have to think again.
