Has anyone bought packing boxes from ebay? I have seen these listed, and wondered what I should order? We are hopefully moving in about 2 months time and want to at least start with boxing stuff we wont need until we find a new place!

do you have a big yellow storage or big box storage near you? they sell boxes.

if you are using a removal company they should supply them

Ask a removals company. Even if you don't book one now they can still sell you some boxes.

OliviaMumsnet · 04/10/2010 13:39

The removals company should lend you some in advance but also try your local supermarket
Banana boxes are vg

Freecycle often have stacks of boxes left from other people's moves.

I just gave away a whole ton of boxes on freegle/freecycle, as Blu recommends. People are always offereing boxes on there, all you have to do is go and pick them up, if you are successful.

My boxes came from here originally. They were from a freind of a freind second hand with the website on the side. Good boxes though!

argos /ebay or free from the supermarket

I freecycled mine after I moved, and have seen other people offering packing boxes, so worth keeping an eye open. There's lots of demand too, though - I had about ten takers for every batch of boxes I offered.

was also going to say freecycle.

The crisp aisle at the supermarket. Especially if it's open 24 hours and you go in the night when they're stacking the shelves.

We got all our boxes from macdonalds - they said french fries on the side but perfectly functional and free!

Bookshops are good places to ask as book boxes have to be pretty sturdy to deal with the weight.
