Is anyone handy? I want to repair, reupholster and restore a classic chair myself, all from scratch. How?

Can it be done?

Have just rescued an absolutely brilliant chair and want to restore it to its former glory. I think it's from the 60's, very very like this chair although not exactly the same. I think it was quite expensive when new although is now a bit mangy- the strips of material holding the cushion you sit on (told you I was clueless!) are disattached, cushions need reupholstering, and wood needs tarting up- varnishing?

Can anyone give me advice or links re:

  1. Advisability of entire project
  1. Cost and time involved
  1. How to reupholser, repair and restore!

Thanks in advance

To make a chair like that look good I'd advise going to do a nightclass in reuholstery - as it has such sleek lines it would be easy to cock it up and make it look rubbish.

You could do the chair as part of your project so would get specialist support from your teacher.

Lovely chair btw

Carefully take the old fabric off and use that as a pattern for the new fabric.
