Cost of redecorating?

I realise this is a how long is a piece of string type question BUT I was wondering if anyone could give me even the roughest idea... if we got a professional to strip all the existing wallpaper in a typical 30s 3 bed semi, then put lining paper up everywhere.

Are we talking £2k, £4k, £6k, £8k???

Any guesses?

I was quoted £550 per large room

Oh hurrah, someone with a reply! Smile So we've got an L-shaped living and dining room - that would then count as 2 large rooms I take it?

Whatever you think it will be, double it financially and add a third time wise.

to stip, repaper and paint my small stairs and landing came out at average £400. Oh, that was without any woodwork.

Can you do any of the stripping? My guys all said that was the bit of the job they hated, as it took the most time - so therefore you would save quite a bit by doing some yourselfSmile

Yes DH is quite keen to do the stripping but I just wonder how easy that's going to be with two toddlers jumping around between our feet. I think we'll also do the painting ourselves, bit by bit in the evenings [must be mad]

oh, get the toddlers to help - mine loved itGrin And didnt even make too much of a mess - she loved picking all the bits up and putting them in the black bag!
