Need new floorboards varnishing. Went to B&Q and saw that Ronseal do a Perfect Finish floor varnish (comes with applicator) and also do a wax. Has anyone used either of these and if so are they any good. Or is there another stain/varnish all in one thing that anyone can recommend. Thanks

We used the Ronseal floor varnish and painted it on in two coats. vey happy with it. No specal applicator needed.

Cheers, I thought that the applicator thing looked like a bit of a rip off.

We laid a new oak floor last year and used Wickes own make. It was something along the lines of Diamond Hard or similar. I found it easy to apply and it has lasted very well. We used varnish at our old house, but having done both I think the wax is easier, lasts well and gives a really nice finish.

Sorry, I meant Wickes own make WAX. Duh.

Great, I'll check out Wickes' Wax.

I can thoroughly recommend Osmo Oil- 2 coats applied with a brush and you can get a variety of finishes.
