Our half finished house was broken into last night but they didn't take anything ...??

Our extension is built and the house is watertight....However we were broken into last night (we're not living there). But, they didn't steal anything. Now I'm worried they'll come back. Inside the house is yet to be wired - half the walls are down - windows are in but there's no kitchen no bathroom yet and none of the fixtures and fittings have arrived yet.....the builders have said they'll take all tools away with them.

We're getting our burglar alarm up and running so that it hopefully deters them when the bits they might want to nick arrive but I am definitely still nervous...

I don't blame you for feeling nervous but it doesn't sound as if there was much to steal - they were probably after copper pipes and/or a boiler. Good idea to get the burglar alarm up and running.

Happens a lot. Thieves are after pipes, fittings anything that can be sold on Angry.

My parent's neighbours moved out and two nights later people were in the house, stripping it down.
Called the police but they did not catch them, but later on they found out it was the neighbours from accross the road!

Glad I don't live on their estate anymore.

How horrid, I'm not surprised you're nervous. Our plumber told us that he was reluctant to leave the new radiators in our empty house because of burglary risk -- I imagine the appeal is exactly what lalalonglegs describes. Hope the alarm provides some reassurance. Are your neighbours nice?

Our neighbours are all really nice. It's quite a dark road at night and the houses are all detached although close together. I'm surprised our neighbour on that side didn't hear the door being kicked in. The plumber starts on Monday next week but I'm pretty keen for him to be delayed until the alarm is back in so that that might deter them. I suspect the alarm is the last thing that goes in for quite a lot of people but at least we have one there albeit that it isn't quite working at the moment - they hda to disconnect it when they started.

Agree that it would be good to get the alarm up before the plumber comes back -- our plumber said that people look out for the van.

Agree that they were after pipes or any fittings they could grab.

There's been alot of break-ins in our area recently. They're only coming in to steal the car keys though, and then taking the cars.
