I want to lay engineered floor on about 20 square meter living room and also hang a new back door. is £200 a reasonable quote for labour?? Thanks in advance as I have no experience with this sort of thing.

Also where should I get the materials..?? any reliable online shops??

God yes that's brilliant, I think we paid £1000 for two rooms, I was that desperate to get it done I paid, wish I hadn't though :(

Sounds very cheap to me, too cheap really, has the person quoting been recommended?

(mamtomany I have just emailed, hope it reaches you ok. Hijack over.)

We have just had an engineered wood floor laid in a slightly smaller room for a similar price. I think £200 is about right. Most tradesmen charge around £150 for a days labour, and this job would seem to be around a day or a day and a half's work. I don't think it is either too expensive or too cheap. If as Pannacotta suggests the person is recommended I would say the price is right.

I got some lovely engineered oiled oak from Prestige Timber. Find them on ebay. £26 per metre.

hmm. I just got a quote to do 32 square meter now...I want to do the the kitchen as well I want it to be same flooring from living room to kitchen.. And he has quoted £400 for doing that and also hanging the backdoor. Does that sound about right? Now I have to look into cheapish engineered floor. I want oak colour as we don't get much light as one side is basement (the other side is garden). I can't afford more than £21 per square for engineered floor as I have to stick to a budget. If anybody's husband is builder and know of good online place to get it I would appreciate it lots.

I found really cheap one but I'm not sure if it's really bad quality....
