What Finish for a wooden floor?

I am about to have an engineered oak floor put down in hallway and dining room and am getting mixed messages over the best most hardwearing finish. Some say Matt Lacquer, some say Hardwax Oil. Help please!

Any luck on this one ? My oak floor needs re-doing.......choice is waxing, or a permanent finish. Is one preferable to the other ? Still want the wood to look natural and
" fed ". Don't know which way to go. Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Old thread, but Polyx oil every time. Super hard wearing and you don't need to resand if it chips or scratches.
