What do we think of this wallpaper?

Is this the kind of wallpaper that an adult loves but a young boy would think was boring?

I think the problem with children's wallpapers in general is that they can be very expensive and children can get tired of them rather quickly.

(I speak as a child who was allowed to choose her own wallpaper aged 8, and who then had to put up with the sodding stuff until I eventually moved away from home.)

I think that particular wallpaper might start to grate after a while.

The paper is great fun but might grow out of it?

TDaDa · 05/09/2010 19:10

My 11 year old said it is a bit childish for him Smile

taffetacat · 05/09/2010 19:25

Why not try some funky retro comic stuff? DS (6) has a big wall covered in Captain America panel art, available through here, under Marvel. Sorry it won't link to a specific image.

I am hoping it lasts til teenagerdom.....

TDaDa · 05/09/2010 20:15

TDaDa · 05/09/2010 20:16

moulesfrites · 05/09/2010 20:42

read about these wallpapers in a magazine - look fab but pricey - kateusher.wordpress.com/wallpapers/

BoBoo · 05/09/2010 21:11

The link is to a fabric, not a wallpaper

TDaDa · 05/09/2010 21:21

.....looks great though!

MarionCole · 05/09/2010 21:43

He's only 3 at the moment so we have a while to go. You have confirmed my fears though.

Must admit, my other idea was to get a big Marvel mural thing. He does love all things Marvel at the moment, so I think it would go down better with him. Will probably remain popular for longer too. Thanks for that link taffeta.

I think my 5 year old would have Formula 1 for the next 3 years ...but generally agree with cat64

MarionCole · 05/09/2010 22:07

He's got plain white walls and posters up at the moment, but I think it looks really boring. That's probably just to my adult mind though.

OP posts:
TDaDa · 05/09/2010 22:09

How big and imposing are the posters? Also cuddly toys to soften and warm up the room?

OP posts:
MarionCole · 05/09/2010 22:17

(He doesn't have that now, I'm suggesting it might be a good fit!)

lalalonglegs · 05/09/2010 22:22

I don't think you should try to theme or over-decorate a child's room: keep it plain, let them fill it with whatever they find interesting at the time and give them plenty of storage. A play table he can lay out his cars/trains/lego on will probably be of far more interest than a particular wall covering or window treatment.

MarionCole · 05/09/2010 22:24

I agree longlegs, this is for my benefit rather than his!

Oh Wink.

Have a look at American site for room inspiration
potterybarnkids.com
Decorating the kids room is a major thing here and i think their ideas are ones you can grow with. Pottery barn is a good company - I'll miss it when I move back!!!! Although you can't get the exact things, you would be able to take the theme and work it out yourself.

HerHonesty · 06/09/2010 09:28

i like it but i think you might tire of it

TDaDa · 06/09/2010 16:51

I agree with HerH

ReshapeWhileDamp · 06/09/2010 18:53

I like it, but only because it's Quentin Blake - I'd imagine a small child would get bored of it fast.

Having said that - ooh! Quentin Blake fabric! I love the menagerie design. Why didn't I know you could get Quentin Blake fabric? And Whyyyyy is it £31 a metre??? Sad

B&Q have got some cool wallpaper at the moment - I saw a great black and white one of buildings (skyscrapers) that I nearly got for kids' room but the other day I noticed they have more in a similar vein - for examples see birds and landmarks my current favourite. They're not too (relatively) expensive either.
