We've been in the unfortunate position of having to have a formal dispute with some council tenants further down our road. She is a wicked old witch as far as I can tell and refused to be reasonable with us over parking on the street. Our street is more a narrow country lane. You can park on the road but have to be right up against the kerb to allow other vehicles to pass. This old bat took offence to us parking outside her house when we started building works so couldn't park on the drive. We obviously knew we could park there, its a public road! Anyway 4 weeks ago she put in a flower border on the verge making it very difficult to park on the road and then get out of the car. Then last Friday she instructed her gardener to take out the kerb and put a fence there Shock. She claimed to have permission for both the flower bed and the fence. My lovely dh took it up with the council and they work fast (probably because they were told that the tenant was about to take a kerb out!). Today they have visited the street and their tenant. The tenant has been told to reinstate the verge at her expense and been fined for improper disposal of waste material (the gardener threw the verge he dug up down onto another lane running parallel with our lane) and also been told that they will not be given permission for a fence there because it will be restricting the use of a public highway. So my clever dh has won Grin. Wish we hadn't had to go to full dispute but she was being so horrible to me and the kids there was no choice.
