I feel silly posting this as Im sure it must be obvious, but not to me...

I bought a picture yesterday, to hang on a wall. But on the back there are NO fixings, hooks, anything at all, it is just completely smooth. How is one supposed to attach it to the wall? Its a sort of box picture as well, so its not as if I could use the lip of the frame to slot it onto a picture hook wither.

Any ideas anyone?

You can easily buy the small eyelets that you screw into the back of the wooden frame and then run some string across. They do usually come with it so I would ask at the shop just in case they were left out of the package.

A lot of picture hanging kits come with the hardware to add to the back of a frame. You'd need two little eyelet screws (not sure if thats what they are called but they are screws that have circles on the end that you can pass a wire through). In my experience, the wood on the frame is soft enough that I can just screw these in by hand, about a third from the top. Then there should be some picture hanging wire that you pass through at each end and then wrap around itself to keep it from slipping back through.

Thanks both! I have emailed a few ebay sellers to ask if their picture hanging kits come with these eyelet screws. Thanks for your help, I didn't have a clue!

Your local hardware store (or maybe even grocery store) will have something like this
