End of September, but DH company provides a serviced apartment for four weeks before to ease the transition. So, I'm heading back in a week or so with the kiddos. All of this anxious waiting and stress and it's finally here!!!!! Now spending this week selling off our unwanted belongings as we are moving from a grand texan house (cheap as chips out here) into a normal uk house.
I've had so many times of being unhappy out here (even though I'm an upbeat person) that I just can't wait to get back to normal people. No offence to texans - my DC is Texan after all. But you just can't beat English people and UK as a place to live - honestly!!!!

Have you bought a house near your folks over here then? Do you have preschoolers?

Our family is spread around the country, but we have some family living less than an hour away, and friends who are closer. Anything seems ideal compared to a ten hour flight away!
Yes, I have two DC under four, so getting back to register DS for school next year was the catalyst.
We also sold our old house and bought this new one while abroad, so the stress has been fantastic.
It has been an adventure, and I have lived abroad before (previous to DCs) but Texas and I just didn't seem to click. There were good parts to it, but generally I found it too hot to do much outdoors with the children and quite dull. The standard of living out here is very high, but the actual quality of life in UK is higher IMO. I know various members of the family think I'm crazy for wanting to come back, but I just think that relative to the life I had as a child in UK, DC's would have been very dull. And now I'll appreciate UK even more - chavs and all!!!!
