Bedroom decorating help please

DH and I moved recently. Clearly we are therefore completely cash strapped. But we have to do something about our bedroom. Our furniture is mostly white and white wicker and we are planning to introduce colour (blues, greys and maybe a bit of other colour) via the walls, curtains, rugs etc. We also have a small space where we want to put a pretty table with a few pictures etc.

So the plan is to make it look light and airy but also warm.

The cupboards are built in but don't currently have doors so we have to have doors fitted. I can't work out what doors to use. Do we do yet more white? I'd like to make them wooden but I am not sure if that will work with the white and blue?

Advice welcome.

If you already have white, I would stick with that. I think introducing wood on such a large area might look a little odd. We have white wardrobe doors, white bedside units and white dressing table and I think it looks good.

DH is traumatised by the white. I might have to get the painting and curtains done first so he doesn't start to think he's in a hospital!

What about painted doors in a soft grey?

BlingLoving · 31/08/2010 15:59

Noddy - that's quite a good idea actually. We want to work some grey in anyway.

You could get some doors made in routered mdf which looks like tongue and groove and is fab painted in a period style grey with some really nice handles

I had a white bedroom once and put black/white curtains and accesories with a touch of dark purple (caddles, frames etc). It looked very dramatic and ...sexy Grin.

But probably not everybody's cup of tea...

Hi Bling, I agree with Noddy, soft grey on the wardrobe doors would look lovely. It'll soften up the white and it'll look great with a periwinkle blue; adding some nice textures and fabrics through cushions and throws will make it feel more warm and romantic. I do like whites, blues and greys together as I love that fresh, clean New England look. Good luck!
