will anything bad happen if I take the feet off my new washing machine to fit it under the counter?

I have a new kitchen and SOMEONE has slightly buggered up measurements by a millimeter or two so machine just wont fit under the unit. The options are to take feet off, or remove tiles on the floor (which would mean retiling the whole kitchen wouldn't it? oh god.)
I have the same problem with every machine I've tried.

Arent there to balance it and take the strain of the vibrations.
Wont it knacker the machine and tiles?

I dont' really mind about the tiles - they are old and we'll have to replace them eventually - just cant really afford to do it right now.
Yes, I am slightly concerned about machine.

can't you just chip out the tiles under the machine itself?

although thinking about it that may not be such a hot idea in case the machine leaks and there's nothing to protect the floor.
