O% fee estate agent, too good to be true?

V well known estate agent opening in our area, offering to sell properties for 0% as intro offer for first 200 people to sign up... contract will be for 12 weeks with them. They valued our place quite high (but not the highest of the 3 we have had so far..)
Is this going to be a good deal for us, or do you think the agents will have no real reason to push our sale leaving us to languish on their website?

Anyone experienced this kind of deal? any thoughts welcome... I just feel a bit uneasy, surely estate agents do not do something for nothing??

They want boards up it sounds like a good deal!

Sounds like a good deal to me. Its obviously a loss leader for them to get their boards up in the area and hopefully get lots of new business through word of mouth so it will be in their interests to do a decent job.

I just saw this advertised, I am subscribed to their newsletter. I would go with this deal if I were you, they normally charge an arm and a leg. Maybe you might want to check that they'll do all the same marketing, which I'm sure they will do. Sounds like a good tool on their part to get a lot of stock on their books quickly.

I friend signed up to something similar a few years ago (but it was for 0.5% commission or something). The best advert an estate agent could have is lots of 'for sale' and especially 'sold' signs in an area. It's seems a good deal.

Sounds fine to me - they need boards up and properties in their windows. Go for it.

thanks everyone, you have reassured me... Will let you know if they are any good!

Check that there are no exit fee's, Contract with our old EA's stated that after 12 week contract (or at any time) should vendor wish to remove from market then 150+vat charge!!
