kitchen- slate tiles on the walls can i have slate on the floor?

or will it look too much the kitchen is oak with oak tops stained almost black (but you can still see the grain it just looks more like an american hard wood) iv just got my slate tiles for the walls and there gorgeous. i was going to have slate effect lino (thinking of dc's) but now iv seen the real thing it would also look lovely on the floor it would be a different cut so not the same hape but would it still look too much?

I think it depends on light and what colour the walls are.I have had it on both but my cupboards and walls were white with oak tops
