Anyone successfully painted/sprayed their shiny gold fire surround?

Just wondered how easy this was to do and if you can get a good finish. We have a shiny gold fire surround that I want to spray or paint matt silver. TIA

I spray painted the black parts of my gas fire with paint that was specially for fires. I wonder if the paint you intend to use will be heat resistant, like the black stuff? I have gold sprayed part of a bedstead and it just rubbed off over time so not successful.
