Anybody doing a wetroom...it's not that straight forward...

...you have to consider:

-the gradient/type of the hidden shower tray if you want a continuous floor

-depending on the join you should consider doing the shower floor in a different tile to the rest of the room to provide a break

-then you consider carefully what type of shower cubicle you choose if you want the continuous look

Just thought that I should share my troubles

oh and you have to have some waterproof screening stuff under the floor.
yeah, we were put off by every plumber/builder that advised us.
ended up getting a very large shower tray and lowering it a bit so level with the floor and a plain glass screen

How large is your tray domeafavour? Our screen arriving soon and am fretting tray should have been bigger.

yes, the underfloor waterfproof thingy is essentially a shower tray under the tiles. I think that it has to be atleast the size of the shower cubicle. We ordered the wrong width side panel so have to return it/order a new one.

Think it is 1.2m x 900. screen same length.Thought about having the screen smaller but decided on same size. Only just finished, just had first shower now. Very happy with it.

I think many builders are still learning about wet rooms. The underfloor hidden tray stops the leaking ...hopefully

Ours was very straightforward . In fact, we hadn't planned on having a wet room - initially just planned for toilet and shower cubicle, which was going to be a bit cramped. Builder said he could make it into a wetroom for the same price - so now we have a wetroom, which is fab.

Well; we ordered the wrong size shower cubicle and Matki have kindly informed us that ours was custom made so we can't swap- so a new/additional side panel that will be!

nighmare! I hate ours it makes the whole bathroom wet, lots of puddles as when my husband showers (big man) the spray bounces off him and lands all over the floor. Then you end up with wet feet around the sink. We have a large bathroom too.

A screen would be the best idea or an uprise section which you jump over. The screen would also have to be high as a lot of spray can get over the top so this could be pricey.

I'm unsure what to do with ours - we plan to rent this place out and may just go for the traditional cubicle.

Our plumber is in agreement - look great lovely concept but its not at all pratical.

DP always advises customers against them.

He knows of too many people that have had them and they've always been a PITA (the wet rooms that is, not the people )

Our "wet floor" will have screens i.e. completely enclosed. So essentially it is like a normalshower except that the floor is tiled. and continuous.

I was told the same in the UK, that you could not have a wetroom on the first floor. Nonsense. They just did not know how to do it.

Most bathrooms these days (at least in Norway) are wetrooms as standard. There is a membrane across the entire floor, under the tiles. Both our bathrooms are wetrooms. I love it.
