A question about Warren Evans dark stained beds/furniture

Is it just stained pine? And if it is, do the darker stains look a bit naff?

They look lovely on the website and I'm tempted, but I'm worried that they could look a bit battered in a couple of years.

We have a chest of drawers which (I think is dark stained pine) and over the years it's got wee dints in it as the wood is so soft. Where it's dinted, you can see the light colour of the original wood underneath. Does this happen to warren evans stuff?

I need dark wood or fabric to go with our bedroom furniture. My plan is to have a very pale duck egg? teal? kind of colour to contrast against the dark wood.

I love Warren Evans beds and have had them since I was a child. I have had a dark stained one in the past and it didn't look naff after 16 years. They can send you samples of the stains if you need to check it goes with the rest of your furniture/colour scheme but there is a very good sale on at the moment which finishes soon so you might not want to hang about!

Ah that's good to hear. So no wee dints in your beds?

I had the same concerns but went to the showroom and they look lovely. We've only had our bed for a year (plus bedside units) - but no marks or dints as yet (hope I'm not tempting fate!)

No dents! I had my first one for 16 years and the stain was still good after that long. I've had my latest bed from them for about 3 years (a mid colour stain) and looks perfect. They're really good quality! But if you can get to a showroom you'll see that for yourself.

We've had our dark stain ones for 7 years now. Looked great but tbh they are showing a bit of wear and tear now - no big dwnts but stain has come off some bits partic top of bedside tables and edge of bed. We have moved house twice though so maybe they have got a bit damaged from that.

Mattress is still comfiest one I've ever had though. Tis blissful to come home to :)

Thanks y'all. Maybe a kind of mid-coloured oak would be better than the very dark ones.

I'm trying to remember if mine is WE, think it is though can't see it on their website. Mine is dark stain and still looking good after six years and two house moves :)

PS think duck egg/teal would look lovely!

OK, I've ordered a dark one

next step, phone the decorator...
