New build home - snagging

Has anyone recently bought a new build home? We're due to complete in about 4 weeks (will probably end up being 4 months!) and are trying to decide whether or not to get professionals in to do the snagging list. Still not fully aware of the correct procedure and what to expect at that stage (will be talking to our useless helpful sales lady at the weekend).

I'm convinced I'll be so excited about our new house that I'll miss any problems. What do you think?

We did just over a year ago and found the company very helpful.

We did a snagging list ourselves and it was all sorted before we moved in.

We were then told we could collect other issues into a list and phone or email them and they would sort it out - and they did.

It wasn't written in stone how long to leave it before telling them about issues, but they hinted that it would be a bit unreasonable of me to nag them every day/week.

So I collected up a list (obviously they were non-urgent) and gave it them after about a month or so. Then I asked them to sort out a couple more things a few months after that.

It helped that they were still building round the corner I think. For urgent things, they gave us an emergency number.

So you could ask if your builders do any/all of the above. I wouldn't pay a professional to do a snagging list tbh, but then I'm tight. The building is obviously covered by for 10 years.
