Wickes bathrooms - any experience?

After looking at what seems to be a myriad of virtually identical bathroom pottery I have nearly decided on the eco suite from Wickes with the Belmar bath

Has anyone used them for bath pottery? What are they like?

They've got a sale on atm (as ever) which makes the price quite competitive.

Thanks

Just bumping to see as I'm in the market for bathroom stuff too :)

We bought a toilet pan & dual-flush cistern, a semi-recessed basin and bathroom cupboards / vanity unit from Wickes a few years ago.
I only have 2 complaints, and these may be common to lots of toilets supplied by other companies (eg B&Q), so please don't take this as a downer on Wickes.

  1. The valve (not sure what it's called, but it was called a ballcock valve on old style toilets) inside the cistern sometimes goes a bit dodgy, causing the cistern to overflow slightly into the pan, so the cistern keeps filling up (just like it does when you flush the toilet).

  2. The original dual-flush button on top of the cistern was a bit naff (plastic)and broke, so we had to order a new one. I think Wickes charged us a few quid and a new one was delivered to the house

Fortunately, DP is handy at DIY so we've never had to resort to calling a plumber out

I havent ever bought bathroom kit from Wickes, but having renovated a few bathrooms I would say your best bet is to go to smart bathroom showrooms to work out what you like and then order from a local plumbers merchant as they are always much cheaper and will tend to get you 10-20% off the list price, subject to brand and perhaps offering to pay by cash (usually they also offer good, honest advice).

Plumbworld do lots of the Wickes stuff a lot cheaper, worth doing a web search.

Thank you for bumping ChippingIn :)

I've found the 'look' I want - wickes do a similar style and the other one is a trade brochure that I got from the plumbers merchant - I didn't know I could get % of the list price - the set I have found in the trade brochure is £650 for toilet and sink and wickes do a similar version which is £323 in the sale.

The plumber is coming round next week so will seek his advice.

Thank you

He might be able to get you a better discount on a similar line anyway - although most of the plumbers I have spoken to seem keen on me getting my own and them just fitting it.

Bathstore have a great sale on at the moment too :) and Victoria Plumb - just to confuse the matter!!
