Windows painted shut

Grrrr a few of our sash windows are painted shut from the outside and have been since we moved in.

How can we unstick them? We're on a first floor flat so can't have a go at them from the outside without going up a ladder. Does it mean I'll have to get someone round? I don't mind that - just wondered how much it might cost.

If they were painted shut from outside your best bet is to attack the issue from the outside.

Are you sure they were painted shut from outside?

You could always get a local builder out to have a look (quote), if its something else, possibly something simple then a suitably qualified pair of eyes may help.

I think they were painted from the outside - I've tried from the inside but no luck. We've had sash window people over to do other windows so perhaps I'll get them back in to see what they can do. I'm too much of a wuss to go up a ladder and have a go myself!
