OMG! Why did we ever decide to move?

We have already exchanged contracts with our buyers because they were threatening to pull out. And we were hoping that we'd be able to persuade vendors to move on the same day. Problems with outstanding mortgages on the property. Problems with valuable goldfish in their pond. But we had resolved those we thought. But vendor rang me this morning in a bit of a state. Apparently they fucking useless sol has yet to return a single document about the property they are buying! They had heard nothing since their offer was accepted Confused

So..... even though the land registry entry was proved to be a clerical error, even though we have agreed not to poison/cook/sell her precious fish before they can get them professionally moved, and even though they know our position.... they aren't going to move out on the 23rd.

I felt sorry for her. She was in a bit of a state and her mum is ill (she's 70 herself so god knows how old her mum is). I didn't make any promises but made sympathetic noises. She thought they might be able to do it on 27th.... maybe.

So we will have to move stuff in to storage and stay with my parents. Not end of the world stuff but honestly, AIBU to think their sol is crap and that most of these issues should/could have been sorted weeks ago?

Well I think that if the conveyancer goes into deficit we can have them shot. That would concentrate the mind Grin

Woohoo - We have exchanged! Grin

I take back all my murderous thoughts about conveyancers (although the one at the bottom of the chain who held us up severely because he only dealt with carrier pigeons and never answered the phone should still be shot in my opinion)

Orm, I hope it all works out for you. We are not completing until the 27th and are on holiday next week so packing will be a bit rushed but who cares!

OrmRenewed · 11/08/2010 12:01

Whoop whoop (as I beleive our US cousins say Grin).

So pleased for you.

yes, we're away next week too. Most of our packing is done and we will have 2 days - yes 2 whole days to get the last bits completed. I managed to find a removals company that can take all our things from the other removals company's storage and into our new house on the same day as the vendors are moving out! Hurray! But the storage can't be 'released' on that day as the first removals company can't find anyone to do it Hmm And they will charge us 215 for the priviledge if they could. But magically they have found us 'availabilty' at the end of the week instead of the start of the next week. Just got to get final confirmation of all dates this afternoon....

Two days - gasp! We have a week (but have cut our holiday short in order to accomodate the 27th - we were supposed to be away until the 28th!)

Hope you get all your dates sorted. Smile

The house is a complete tip. I can't tidy or clean because half the floor is covered in boxes. Really hard to sort stuff for our hols and the week (or more Hmm) after we move out and before we move in because I can't find anything. Having major doubts about staying with my parents for 8 days.

Been snapping at everyone and called DH in a total state last night while he was out to have a bit of a scream Grin

I didn't have grey hairs before this but might have by the end Sad

Oh yeah, and the house our vendors are buying has fallen through

They have found another but not sure if they can get it all done by 31st.

All this is why we have been in our current house for 19 years.... can't face another move Grin

When we moved here, we were meant to be moving at the end of April, but the day before the contracts were to be exchanged our buyer disappeared - literally; I don't think anyone ever heard from him again, last thing I heard it had transpired that he had rather more commitments than he'd admitted to and the police were looking for him...

Luckily our vendors agreed not to put the house back on the market, but it was the end of July before we got another buyer- when we did we moved in 10 days from offer to moving in.

Oh Orm, what a nightmare!!

We have ordered a skip and I have sore arms from carrying buckets of hardcore, wooden planks, old garden toys and other assorted bits of crap which were languishing in our garden Hmm

Have not even started packing yet - still waiting to get removal boxes. Am dropping acceptance of quote and deposit in with removal firm this morning so hopefully we will be innundated with boxes soon Smile

Rusty - we had a 9 month nightmare trying to buy the house we are currently in. We vowed never ever to move again. But we have outgrown it now. There is no carparking, no garage, a teeny hardstanding which passes for a driveway (anything bigger than a Mini won't fit on it) and ds has the loft room in which he can no longer stand up and which gets so hot in the summer he ends up sleeping on our bedroom floor - which was fine for years but now he is nearly 11, not really suitable any more.
So needs must Sad And I do feel sad. We love love love this house. Fell in love the moment we viewed. I do not yet love the house I am buying. But I do know it has the potential to be great.

Feeling very heavy hearted about it all at the moment.
(and am very very grey Confused)

We got our boxes as soon as we had accepted an offer on our house. I know packing would be a nightmare. So most of it is done really. Just the last bits and pieces. Have cleared a lot of the junk already.

We've been here 13 years. And like hippo have run out of space. DD is a box room, and the 2 boys sharing a moderately small room.

I could not get our removal firm to give us boxes until we had signed the contract, which we could not do until we had exchanged. Anyroad, we are on holiday next week so have arranged to have boxes delivered when we come back.

We too have been in this house 13 years. It was never meant to be our 'forever' house, more a 5 - 7 years house. But we loved it, and I wanted to be a SAHM so we could not afford to move so we converted the loft (velux only, no dormer) to buy us some time.
But I have now gone back to work, we have outgrown the house so the time is right to 'move on'.
