Blinds in the sitting room - does it look cold?

I have a victorian house with a really awkward box bay in the sitting room and short of spending £100's on a bespoke curtain pole to hang curtains I thought that having blinds would look quite nice with maybe a set of dress curtains instead.

Would this look odd?

The only think that puts me off blinds only is that it could look a little cold in the winter - what do you all think?

I have wooden venetian blinds and will have dress curtains once I save for the fabric Grin I love them, they look bare on their own but will look great with curtains. I love the fact you can alter the amount of light getting in, or tilt them upside down when it's really sunny so light gets in but doesn't blind everyone etc.

roller blinds might look a little odd in a sitting room and i'm not a huge fan of venetians.

but roman blinds are lovely and well suited to both bay windows and sitting rooms.

Ooh good - lots of positives :)

I was thinking about white/cream roman blinds.
The only thing is that side windowns are very narrow - approx 18".

Does anyone know anyone that makes a real range of sizes or am I going to have to go down made to measure do you think?
