Preparing walls - do I have to use sugar soap?

Have just got back from a long day at work. Stopped off at DIY store on the way to pick up supplies ready to work on ds's room this evening. Just realised that I forgot to buy sugar soap.

I took the wallpaper off yesterday and it's left a fairly clean surface, but I just wanted to wash the wall down to remove the last of any adhesive. It's too late to go out to buy sugar soap now. Is washing up liquid likely to do the trick?

i normally use sugar soap for washing down emulsion ...never used it to get old glue off. its normally used as a degreser i believe.
