i always prefer eggshell, i am not a high shine type of girl, drips notice much more, the finish has to be just absolutely perfect or else it looks terrible (but i don't like it much even when perfect).
Also, eggshell is much much more robust, so depending where it is, it is more hardwearing, so doors, skirting etc is best as eggshell.
