Conveyancer has just rung to say our buyers want to complete on 9th August. Which is great and we knew they were in a hurry. But the people we are buying from aren't keen to move that quick - conveyancer ringing them today to see if they are OK with the date. Which I am 99% sure they won't be. What happens if they aren't and our buyers threaten to pull out?

How big a gap would there likely be? (Clumsy sentence - ykwim!) If only a few weeks coudl you rent a cheap holiday place for a bit????

I don't know. Would be expensive and massive hassle. But might have to do it.

I stayed in a hotel for 3 weeks, not ideal with 2 boys aged 7 and 4 and my husband all in one teeny room but my Mum had just died and we were desperate to move. I couldn't have coped with any more stress of trying to find somewhere to rent.

Wasn't as awful as it sounds, it was 4 star but I just had to use lots of lovely friends washing machines and tumble driers.

All our stuff went into storage and I stashed my larder freezer stocked full of food was stored in my friend's garage.

We couldn't find a holiday let, but then we are in a city!

We all agreed on an exchange/completion date but then the Vendor at the top of the chain (3 in the chain) wanted to delay completion by 2 weeks. We refused but we were already going into rented anyway as we'd already exchanged on our house so we kicked up a fuss & in the end the 2 EA involved in the sales coughed up the financial cost for the additional 2 weeks. Not sure if this will help you but say you can not afford to rent & see if you can get some compensation from someone/somewhere. Good luck!
