Painting a wooden mirror

We have an old mirror, a bit like this in a creamy colour. I want to paint it lime green. Do I need to sand or prime it first? What kind of paint do I need to buy?

Any suggestions gratefully received.

how funny. we painted a wooden mirror limeish green years back... we just slapped matt emulsion we used on wall on it... it's still fine today! sure this isn't approved method but worked fine.
