Building Regulations re newly installed boilers

Are you aware that from April 2006 all new boilers must have building regs. We only found out about this whilst in the process of selling our house! We had no idea and was completely thrown by the question. After doing some research on the web, we then discovered that this is indeed the case for all new condensor boilers. Luckily for us ours was installed in January 2006 which was before this came in to effect but thought I'd pass on this information just in case!!

Yes, but the building regs cover the sort of boiler you should install (it has to be condensing, I think all gas ones are now) and they have to be installed by a Gas Safe (formerly Corgi) certified plumber.

I think you only need a building control certificate if you didn't get the correct certificate from the CORGI/Gas safe installer. (The idea being that one or the other has to check it's installed in accordance with the relevant building regs).

As I understand it, the installer certificates cannot be issued retrospectively although you can have a gas safety check to prove it isn't a hazard.
