Conservatory is off dining area of open-plan ground floor, and is main route to garden. There are double doors from living space to conservatory, and then double doors from conservatory to garden.
Washing machine is currently in conservatory because there is no room in the kitchen but we are doing the kitchen this autumn.
My options are:
- washing machine in kitchen (not massive so would mean sacrificing 60cm of base unit storage)
- washing machine in conservatory
- washing machine in a doorway (currently unused) between conservatory and kitchen but boxed in at the back so that in conservatory it looks like a cupboard, but we access the washing machine from inside the kitchen. Does that make sense?
I'm concerned about the aesthetics of the latter, though it's DH's favourite.
The conservatory is symmetrical with the double doors making a straight line through to the garden. I think the boxed-in bit might look uneven.
At the moment the conservatory is like a utility room/dumping ground, but as it's the route (and view) into the garden, I want it to be the least utilitarian possible. I harbour images of ferns and a sunlounger!
What would you do?
Thanks!
