Does anyone live there or nearby - or know what they're like and if they're child - and mummy-friendly places to live?

Kingston also great, good option if you want more town life, great local primaries, but very popular so small catchment areas. Should be able to get 4 bed with £400k no problem.

Good primaries are Coombe Hill, Fern Hill, Latchmere (also other good ones, just can't remember the names!)

Secondaries a bit patchy - Coombe Girls is great, but not so many good options for boys.

The famous Tiffin is a nightmare to get into as it has no catchment area - I wouldn't bother.

Just to say we are in Maidenhead, just west of Windsor. We started looking there but our 450k budget got sucked up too quickly!

There is a fab stock of period houses here, if that floats your boat. Lots of young families so lots going on in that respect (although think you have to go to Marlow for nearest NCT groups). The town centre is a bit crap but has everything you need. We are very central to lots of nice rural areas and fantastic places to eat. Oh yes and importantly good schools (primary & secondary)

We have not long moved here from NW London and are really enjoying it so far.

Direct train to Paddington in 25mins as well.
