M&S Abbey Sofa for conservatory

Hi all

Have received great advice on here recently & have yet another quesiton!!

I am looking for a sofa for our large conservatory. M&S have a sale on certain sofas/fabrics - do you think this Abbey sofa would go with a cream leather reclining chair with matching footstool? I am looking at fabric Alto Organic Ecru or Fallon Chenille Taupe (#s 19 & 20 along the top row). Do you think the Ecru one may be too bland to go with a cream chair even if I get some colourful cushions to brighten it up? Or do you think the Taupe one would go better or is it too old person-y? We have blinds in the conservatory so can keep the sun off the fabric to prevent fading.

Many thanks for any help you can throw my way

First impressions are that the Ecru is a bit bland but, as you say, could look different with colourful cushions. Not sure about the Fallon Chenille, it's quite hard to tell from the pic on the M&S site - sorry, that's not much help!).

Think it depends on the rest of the room. Do you have any paint on the walls? If so, what colour? What colour are the blinds, floor, accessories?

Is it possible to view swatches/samples at any branches these days ? When we bought our last set(15+ years ago which has now seen rather better days) we went to a showroom at a branch. Thinking of replacing it now while sales on and before vat rises.

I have the Abbey is Messina Taupe, it's not old-persony at all imo, it's lovely. I don't like the Chenilles and I'm not sure about the Alto one.

Hi everyone

Thanks so much for your replies
The blinds are cream & the floor is karndean in a light natural - we have yet to paint the conservatory walls.

We did see the swatches in store. Do any of you like the Puelo Taupe as that is also in the sale? We can't afford to spend more than £600.

Cheers my dears

Yes, the Puelo Taupe is nice and has some texture to it which adds a bit of interest. You could add any colour cushions/accessories with that.

I quite like Moriko Leaf, Taupe - but of course that's just a personal preference!

Thanks spingspong, I am so pleased you like the Puelo Taupe as it has already been ordered! I said to DH there are many colours in cushions we can add to it as it is so versatile. Only 4 weeks until delivery
