Am under offer and finding it very hard to buy somewhere. The only place I like won't accept an offer and will only accept full asking price even though I have been only viewer! She is going to take it off market if doesn't get full asking price. This seems like blackmail! My only other option is to rent but any views on how disruptive this could be for dd just about to start school?

Do you have to pay any early repayment penalties on your mortgage if you don't transfer it to another property?

It might seem like blackmail, but really she might just be in a situation where if she doesn't get that amount she may be in negative equity and would rather stay than do that.... even if this isn't the case, only you can decide if it's worth that much to you.

I know exactly what you mean that she might only be able to sell at that price, which is why it is such a dilemma! The difference is about 18 months worth of rent though so not a small amount! I live in London so house prices are stupid. I don't have any repayment penalties hence why a rent would be possible, although like you say rent is dead money!
