Did you 'tip' your builders/give an end of project appreciation 'gift'!

I know some people may laugh at this, as so many people seem to end up at loggerheads with theor builder..

But we really like ours, they've done a good job, and the project manager and his workmate have gone out of their way to accommodate our issues/changes etc AND remained friendly, courteous throughout. They've been with us for 20 weeks, so it feels like we've become quite close (!).

Feel like we'd like to give them a thank you gift at the end of the project, together with a written recommendation, but just wondered what?
They've only youngish blokes in their late 20s/early 30s... crate of beer?

I think booze would go down well. I know my mum has done this before, she found out her builder liked whiskey and got him a bottle.

Yes, beer or something like that. I'm very jealous - by the time ours left I could barely speak to them.

Hmm... I'm going to miss all the half-naked young men in the garden .

Yes- I asked this very same question last week and the general consensus was give a token gift or money if you are happy with the work done. Our joiner is finishing today and we have given him a box of chocolates and £40 because he really has gone above and beyond and we are thrilled to bits with what hes done.

Im very impressed you've put up with builders in your house for 20 weeks! Its only been 4 for us and it feels like theyve been here forever!

we just gave our builder a box of beer/card for his landmark birthday - he's not finished yet but DH thought it might keep him sweet ! He's a nice guy and does his best and is doing a good job. I think some sort of alcohol goes down well...can't go wrong with that can you
