sell now or wait?

we love the house we are in but want to move to something bigger and better. However, houses don't come up for sale often where we are and it may take some time to find what we are looking for. Given the current climate, do you think we should sell ours and rent while we are looking? I am concerned that the market will dip soon and then we won't sell ours for as much as we could now. If we sell now at a good price, rent and then buy later??
Any thought?

I understand your concern, I had a similar situation recently myself. It depends on how long you willing to wait for your perfect home.

Are you looking for a house with more bedrooms than you currently have now?

good strategy if you are happy to rent, I would have thought. It means an extra move, though, and moves are not fun.

I'd be inclined to sell while you can and be prepared to rent. Are rents roughly equivalent to mortgage replayments where you are? They're quite a bit higher here, which is a major disincentive.
