Argh! New build houses - help!

How are you supposed to hang anything on the walls?

Has anyone got any tips on how to keep even a lightweight curtain pole on the wall?

I am getting desperate! I want to put shelves up for some storage space as the house is also rediculously small, but am reluctant to as the walls just seem so paper thin. I have tried the plastic rawplugs for plasterboard walls and also the metal screw type ones but the walls just seem to crumble and they fall out after a while.

Has anyone mastered this problem or am I destined to keep everything in the garage

Have you tried this type of fixing? They work fine for most things on our plasterboard walls.

I have - they just seem to churn all the plasterboard up then fall out! I do think our house is pretty poorly built, even by new build standards and the walls seem to be made of the cheapest stuff they could find rather than anything of quality.

Oh dear it does sound like they've used something very cheap and thin for the walls then
