Hi have just found an offer for a free trial for 2 months on the friends and family railcard. It is on the daily mail website here am really hop[ing that it comes in time before I get the train to Edinburgh at the end of the month!

Just applied for one but now realise that a child aged 5+ must travel in order to get a discount...... boo hoo DS is only 3!!

It may work out cheaper to buy your 3yo a ticket as if he is 5yo Chicken.

no! you can buy a child ticket for an under-age child and then adults travelling can get the discount too.

it is a fact. it even says it in the family railcard leaflet. we have been travelling on our family railcard(s) since DD was born 4 years ago.

and if you are travelling with a family railcard you can travel on many peak trains (not ones starting in london and SE or something) for the normal saver fare. we have regularly caught a 7am train to london to catch a eurostar with the commuters. they loved us and our weetabix.
